Career Development

SMU Guildhall provides its students with the resources and professional environment they need to achieve their career goals. While attending the program, students receive class instruction from industry-experienced faculty on the preparation of résumés and cover letters, interview techniques, portfolio creation, online presence, and negotiation.

SMU Guildhall further enhances a student’s career outlook by hosting career events throughout the two-year program. Industry partners are invited to participate in virtual and in-person formats to conduct mock interviews and provide feedback sessions on student online portfolios. Students are encouraged to attend on-campus informational sessions hosted by industry-leading studios, as well as off-campus conferences and networking opportunities. Guildhall’s annual career day focuses on professional readiness and placement opportunities for the graduating cohort as they prepare to enter the game development industry after program completion.

Summer Youth Program

SMU Guildhall Academy, a summer camp for children in middle and high school, provides youth with an interactive forum to express their individuality while learning to make a video game. During the two-week session, students learn to add the discipline of art to their use of science, technology, engineering and math to develop a game.
