MSDS 8390 - Special Topics in Data Science


Credits: 3

Examines the practical applications of data sciences in the application of quantitative finance, specifically using the R language. Develops a foundation in modern economic theory with a focus on application to real world finance modeling solutions. The primary learning framework is based on utilization of real and simulated data sets for business and economic situations. Students become very familiar with the use of R in the creation of data analysis combining financial theory and statistical analysis including portfolio theory, CAPM, and econometric modeling.
