GEOL 5394 - Geophysical Problem-Solving

Covers approaches to problem-solving in geophysics, back-of-the-envelope approximations and dimensional analysis, analytical solutions and numerical techniques on the computer, inverse theory and error propagation, and use of models in the real world. Students complete a term project. Prerequisites: MATH 3313, MATH 3304, and knowledge of a programming language. (*updated* 1/11/2018; effective Spring 2018)
