LAW 7100 - Advanced Legal Research: Texas

Credits: 1

Expands on research skills and materials explored in the first-year legal research course, with a focus on Texas specific resources. Topics for the class include sources for Texas case law, statutory, and regulatory research; secondary sources and practitioners’ materials specific to Texas; understanding and using Texas legislative histories; local law including local court rules and municipal law; and locating non-legal information relevant to the practice of law, e.g. statistical data. Prerequisites: LAW 8375 - Legal Research, Writing, and Advocacy I  and LAW 8376 - Legal Research, Writing, and Advocacy II .
