BA 6042 - Digital Strategy Credits: 1.5
Digital strategy entails specifying an organization’s vision, goals, opportunities and initiatives in a way that leverages the increasing digitalization of people, places and things for competitive advantage. A key objective of this course is to provide students with both a practical understanding of Internet technologies, as well as conceptual tools so that they can analyze and critically assess the viability of digital strategies and business models. This is a discussion-rich course in which case studies are paired with readings that provide conceptual frameworks. Topics include blockchain, artificial intelligence (e.g., machine learning, chatbots), the sharing economy, social media, and the Internet of Things. Two or three guest speakers are typically invited to talk about these and other topical issues. (*updated* 11/30/2018; effective spring 2019)
