LAW 7101 - Oil and Gas Finance
Credits: 1
Immerses students in practical business and legal concepts pertaining to oil and gas development and demonstrates how those issues manifest themselves in the financing documents drafted by lawyers. Students learn the provisions of financing documents and the legal and business issues behind the provisions. The tools and concepts taught in class lectures are implemented by students in practice. Like first-year associates, students start the class with a form of term sheet, a form of credit agreement, and the The LSTA’s Complete Credit Agreement Guide, Second Edition. With input from a client, groups negotiate and agree on the final term sheet and credit agreement. The final work product is a credit agreement redlined against the form. In the final class, each group discusses the final “deal” that was struck and explains the principal points of contention and how they drafted compromises in the documents.
