Number representation and algorithms for arithmetic unit design; redundant radix representation; highly parallel add, multiply, divide, and square root algorithms; IEEE floating-point standard; directed roundings; base conversion; VLSI floating-point units; vector and matrix arithmetic; residue arithmetic; rational arithmetic; and online arithmetic. Prerequisite: Knowledge of computer organization, data structures, and algorithms, as taught in CS 2341.
