HDCN 6327 - Family Play Therapy Credits: 3
Explores ways to work with children and families in a counseling context using play. A variety of learning activities develop and hone proficiency in the use of play techniques to help assess and counsel families with minor children. Students examine the clinical importance of relating to and working with families through play; explore the various dynamics involved in observing families and individuals in play therapy contexts; review the range of available play therapy techniques; and learn the basic family play therapy skills that are imperative for building a relationships with families with children. Students are encouraged to self-explore and self-understand.
