ASPH 3350 - The Photographic Book Credits: 3
This intermediate level course explores the creative presentation of photographs in book form and examines the photobook genre as a distinct mode of storytelling and expression. Over the course of the semester students learn a range of bookbinding techniques and basic graphic design skills in Adobe InDesign. Alongside this work also discuss conceptual issues such as sequential storytelling techniques, forms of montage, and the interplay of text and image, as we analyze examples of contemporary and historic photobooks. Each student uses this knowledge to produce a short photobook combining their own text and images. Prerequisite: ASPH 1300 .
