THEA 3385 - Studies in Theatre, Drama & Performance: English Theatre in Context

Credits: 3

Combining the academic disciplines of theatre history, gender studies, performance studies, urban studies, and literature, this course examines the complex relationship between the United Kingdom and the art/practice of live performance. With its focus on British theatre from Shakespeare’s time to the present, the course enables students to develop an awareness of the connection between the city and its theatre “landscape” through first-hand experience and in-class discussion. Students will attend performances, visit museums, exhibitions, and historic sites, and become familiar with London’s geography as part of this course.
