Examines how the British Empire utilized communication to try to (re)shape the identity of their colonial subjects. Focuses on the relationship between England and its colonial subjects in Ireland, India, and the islands of the West Indies and explores how political speech, civil disobedience, and sports were used as a means of forming or rejecting greater identification as British subjects.
