LAW 7366 - Litigation Practicum

Credits: 3

In this simulation class, students take on the role of an associate working with the class as a law firm on a new client’s case. The client has been sued and brings the Petition to the firm seeking representation. Students analyze the case, how to achieve the client’s objectives, research the applicable law, and determine proper procedures under the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure to respond to the suit. In the process, students report to their supervising partner, participate in firm meetings, report their conclusions to the firm as a whole, and in the process, draft pleadings, correspondence, and memoranda.
