LAW 8310 - Discovery in Action: Writing for Litigation Success Credits: 3
Provides an in-depth examination of discovery-related legal writing in civil litigation. Using a simulated commercial business dispute between two companies as its factual backdrop, students assume the role of law firm associates representing either the Plaintiff or Defendant in a federal lawsuit. Students develop skills in drafting, responding to, and objecting to written discovery (including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission), as well as drafting and responding to motions to compel. Through hands-on drafting exercises, immersive in-class simulations, and strategic legal analysis, students build a strong foundation in litigation discovery writing and are well-equipped for real-world litigation practice.
