PHYS 4321 - Methods of Theoretical Physics Credits: 3
The theoretical tools needed for advanced physics coursework: Fourier series and transform; Hilbert space; ordinary and partial differential equations; distributions; separation of variables; numerical integration; Monte Carlo methods; divergence, gradient, curl, Laplacian; divergence theorem, Stokes’ theorem; linear algebra; complex analysis. The emphasis is on practical applications. Prerequisites or corequisites: MATH 3302 and MATH 3313 .
