UNIV 2303 - From IM to AI: How People Learn with Technology Credits: 3
This course explores how adult students learn in universities and offers a special focus on how technology changes the way we learn. Students examine learning technologies from the rise of the internet to today’s powerful AI tools and dive into real-world examples of technology in college classrooms and think critically about its benefits and challenges. Students engage in big-picture questions about ethics, academic integrity, and the future of learning. Through hands-on activities, discussions, and guest speaker experts, students learn how to apply key ideas about learning to their experiences and assess AI’s role in their learning process. Students develop the skills to work with classmates and professors in technology-enhanced learning environments. By the end of the course, students are able to explain major educational ideas, analyze AI’s impact on learning, and use AI tools to support their academic and career goals. This course is designed for students interested in the past and future of education and technology–and how AI can help (or complicate) learning in universities.
