General Information

There is a rising demand for experts in statistical analysis and data analytics to make sense of the explosion of data from sensors, social media, cloud computing, medical instruments, business processes and surveys. The fields of statistics and data science will be increasingly important to academia, business and government because they provide a rational basis for data-driven decisions.

Department Transfer Credit Policy

Once students have matriculated at SMU, the statistics and data science department will not accept transfer credit for STAT 2331 , regardless of major. For general University transfer course policies, students should refer to the Enrollment and Academic Records  section of this catalog.
