Students taking CHIN 4381 and CHIN 4382 for the language training component of the requirement must take another course from the list of supporting courses (Chinese culture, history or literature courses), for a total of 20 hours. Students testing into any course above CHIN 2402 will have to earn nine hours in SMU credit (six hours in Chinese language and three hours in Chinese culture) in order to receive the minor in Chinese. Study with SMU-in-China’s summer program is strongly recommended.
