The B.S. in statistical science prepares students for a career in data science, or for advanced studies in statistical science, such as graduate work in the field or in a related discipline.

Requirements for the Major

Mathematics and Statistics (18 Credit Hours)

Electives (24 Credit Hours)

At least nine hours from the following:

Any STAT 3000-level course
Any STAT 4000-level course (except STAT 4341 )
Any 6000-level or higher course (with permission)

Remaining hours from below if not included in the nine hours above:

ECO 3301 - Price Theory (Intermediate Microeconomics)
Any ECO 4000-level or higher course
EMIS 3308 - Engineering Management
EMIS 3360 - Operations Research
EMIS 3361 - Stochastic Models in Operations Research
Any EMIS 5000-level course
Any MATH 3000-level or higher course
Other approved courses, in consultation with the director of undergraduate studies
