Photography Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Majors and Minors

Students completing 15 hours in photographic study can expect to obtain a sophisticated understanding of the photographically derived image and the technical and creative skills necessary for its production. Classes in photography offered by the Division of Art integrate the technical aspects of the medium with the aesthetic concerns appropriate to art. Through the use of photography, students learn to think and express themselves visually. A minor in photography prepares one for further work in fine arts or commercial photography and other areas where knowledge of photography is helpful. Beyond vocational applications, a minor in photography creates a firm foundation for future creative development. Art majors may not declare a minor in photography.

Requirements for the Minor

  • 6 additional credit hours of ASPH courses
  • 6 credit hours of Art, Art History, Film and/or Creative Computation (ASAG, ASCE, ASDR, ASIM, ASPH, ASPR, ASPT, ASSC, ARHS, CRCP, or FILM)

Total: 15 Credit Hours
