Admission Requirements
Applicants to the M.S. in data science and applied statistics degree program (also known as “MDSAS”) must hold a bachelor’s degree, must have taken a course in statistics and must have taken mathematics courses through multivariate calculus. The GRE graduate school admission test is optional. Applicants must have excellent English communication skills. If required, TOEFL English language proficiency test scores should be in accordance with the requirements specified by the Moody School of Graduate and Advanced Studies. Degree Requirements
To qualify for the M.S. in data science and applied statistics, the student must successfully complete at least 36 credit hours acceptable to the departmental faculty, distributed as follows:
Required Courses (21 Credit Hours)
Elective Courses (12 Credit Hours)
Four courses from the following (at least three of which must be from STAT), chosen in consultation with the graduate adviser:
Major Consulting Project (3 Credit Hours)
The student must complete one or more major consulting projects under the supervision of a departmental faculty member. For at least one of the projects, written and oral presentations of the findings are required. The student satisfies this requirement by completing either:
