Graduate Certificate in Design and Innovation

Offered through the Master of Arts in Design and Innovation program, supported by both the Lyle School of Engineering and the Meadows School of the Arts, the Design and Innovation Graduate Certificate provides a hands-on, interdisciplinary approach to creative problem-solving through Human-Centered Design and innovation strategies. This program equips students with essential design methodologies; fostering critical creative thinking; hands-on graphic design and maker space opportunities; and the chance to work on applied, real-world projects.

With an emphasis on collaboration, research, and professional application, this graduate certificate offers a unique advantage over traditional boot camps and workshops, providing a credit-bearing, immersive learning experience that provides the foundation for future design and innovation work.

Admission Requirements:

Students will need to officially apply to be admitted to the certificate program with one letter of purpose like the MADI program admission policy. The letter of purpose should provide a brief overview of why the student is interested in Design and Innovation, their current professional and academic situation, and what they hope to accomplish after completing the program. There is no GRE requirement. There are no letters of recommendation requirement. An undergraduate degree with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required.

Completion Requirements:

To complete the certificate, students must complete all 12 credits of the required classes and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
