STAT 6370 - Stochastic Models

The basic stochastic models used in science and engineering are covered including discrete- and continuous-time Markov models as well as renewal processes. Examples are drawn from a range applications including infectious diseases, population growth, queueing theory, inventory control, and reliability. Theory, application, and computational considerations associated with such models are covered. Prerequisites: STAT 6327 ; or STAT 6311 ; or STAT 4340 and MATH 3304; or ECE 3360 and MATH 3304; or permission of instructor. (*updated* 1/17/2024; effective spring 2024)
