Degree Requirements
To obtain the Ph.D. degree in geophysics, the student must have:
- Successfully passed a general qualifying examination.
- Completed a minimum of three years of graduate academic work (48 credit hours minimum), with at least two years of full-time residence on the SMU campus or at a research facility approved by the departmental faculty and the dean of graduate studies.
- Written and made a successful public defense of a dissertation. Additional general requirements for the Ph.D. degree are outlined in the Degree Requirements section of this catalog.
- Satisfied all curricular requirements as specified by the departmental faculty, including:
