ARHI-BA - Art History

By the end of the program, at least 90% of students will demonstrate proficiency in visual analysis by achieving a rating of "Accomplished" or higher on assessments that require detailed interpretation of artwork elements, including composition, symbolism, and style, as measured in both classroom discussions and written assignments. 

By graduation, students will complete a capstone research project where they will effectively use a minimum of five primary and secondary sources to contextualize an artwork or art movement, with at least 85% of students scoring "Proficient" or higher on the research components, including source evaluation, integration, and citation.     

By graduation, at least 85% of students will achieve a rating of "Accomplished" or higher on critical analysis essays or presentations that require them to assess art historical interpretations, question assumptions, and provide thoughtful critique on cultural narratives, demonstrating their ability to apply critical thinking in art historical analysis.

The department will conduct writing-intensive courses for all program majors; graduation with the Art History degree will require fulfillment of a 4000-level writing-intensive seminar.
