By the end of the fall semester of General Chemistry I (CHEM 1303), students will be able to apply analytical thinking and quantitative reasoning to construct accurate Lewis structures, determine electron pair geometry, and identify the corresponding molecular geometry of various molecules.

By the end of their junior year, students will demonstrate proficiency in applying principles of statistical mechanics to describe and predict the behavior of systems composed of many particles, with emphasis on thermodynamic and probabilistic processes relevant to biological systems.  

By the senior year, students will analyze and interpret biological data to demonstrate a comprehensive, systems-level understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms, integrating key concepts from biology, chemistry, and physics.

By the senior year, students will effectively communicate scientific concepts, experimental data, and analyses in written form by producing structured research reports based on laboratory or project-based experiences in the biophysical sciences.Â
