The student will predict products of chemical reactions. Specifically, given the reactants and conditions of the reaction, the student is asked to name the product of the reaction.
The student will demonstrate a proficiency in chemical kinetics. Specifically, they will be asked to derive the temporal evolution of the concentration of a reactant of a first order reaction. The question will read "Derive the integrated rate law for the starting material in a first order reaction."
The student will demonstrate a knowledge of the production and effects of very low temperatures. Specifically, the student will be asked how you can perform Raman Spectroscopy at cryogenic temperatures?
The student will demonstrate a knowledge of polymer chemistry. Specifically, the student will present a term paper in which they iterate advanced topics in polymer chemistry.
Students will communicate the results of their research in oral form. This will be done by orally defending a Masters.
