To earn the B.A. degree with a major in Computer Science, students must complete all University-wide requirements, including the completion of University’s Common Curriculum and satisfy the major requirements listed below and one of the six tracks.
Note that each of the six categories below must be satisfied. Courses taken for the major cannot double count or be used to satisfy the EDGE requirements with the exception of the Advanced/Domain Specific Use/Design of AI requirement.
Note: Additional Lyle courses may be approved to fulfill requirements in the areas listed below. Students can petition for other courses to be approved to fulfill Lyle EDGE curriculum requirements.

The advisor may approve other sufficiently technical courses from other departments to satisfy the Technical elective requirements. Technical electives cannot be satisfied by courses that are part of the student’s chosen track. Students may not use CS 4340 to satisfy this requirement.

Note: Students who are also enrolled in a major or minor program in the Cox School of Business may request leadership courses from these programs to substitute for the Computer Science leadership courses. These requests must be ap- proved by the Computer Science Department. No more than 6 hours of courses outside Lyle may be used toward this requirement. Other courses at the 3000 level or above may be petitioned to meet this requirement with prior approval by advisor. CS courses used to meet this requirement may not also meet a CS elective requirement.
Note: All computer science majors must earn a grade of C- or better in the computer science core courses and CS 2353 in fulfillment of the requirements for the major.
