DANCPF-BFA - Dance Performance

Students will be able to produceintermediate/advanced levelsequences utilizing the principals of modern dance. These includecontraction/release, shift of weight,opposition, change of direction, andthe production of upright and off center movement.

Self awareness, coordination,dynamics, musicality, expressivity.Students will be able todemonstrate self awareness byaccurately self analyzing theirtechnique and performancequalities. Students willdemonstrate strong coordinationand correct technique in their balletwork. Students will be able toshow dynamic musicality pairedwith individual expressivity in their ballet work.

Articulation of complex rhythms,deepened musicality, individualitywith regards to social values of jazzdance, stylistic competency,personal point of view inperformance, improvisation, andstylistic nuance.To learn how to articulately embody complex rhythms and move with adeepened understanding of musicalreceptivity (how one is sensitive toand comprehends music) andcreativity (what one does with themusic through phrasing anddynamics) To understand howone's individuality and personalbranding are inherent to the kineticand social values of jazz dance Tosynthesize skill development andstylistic competency as a means ofdeveloping one's personal point ofview and artistry throughperformance, improvisation, andapplication of stylistic nuance.

Student capacity to teach myriad dance techniques in multiple environments. Dance Majors will successfully learnto teach dance technique based ontheir area of movement aestheticinterest. Dance Majors, at some point in theirprogression from sophomore tosenior, will teach a full peer/facultyreviewed dance technique class.

Student capacity to write comprehensive, well-crafted choreographic proposals and funding grants. Student capacity to conduct and audtion, cast dancers, choreograph (schedule and conduct rehearsals), collaborate with costume and lighting designers, and work with production staff to produce a full scale dance production with high aesthetic value. TheCapstone course (Danc 4391) is designed to provide them with the skills and mentorship needed to organize and create a concert with a high standardof excellence. The ability to relate the choreographic intent for their works is crucial to this process.
