EDUSTDS-BS - Educational Studies

By graduation, students will design and implement high-quality instruction, as evidenced by achieving at least 80% proficiency on rubric-scored lesson plans or assessment instruments in core pedagogy or content methods courses, including the EDU-5327 Integrating Teaching and Learning and the EDU 5318 - Formative and Summative Assessment.

By graduation, Master of Education students will adapt instructional materials to effectively address the needs of linguistically, or ability-diverse students, as demonstrated by achieving at least 80% proficiency on a rubric-scored instructional accommodations assignment in diversity-focused courses. The diversity focused courses addressed in this student learning objective include Master of Education courses related to the education of students in bilingual/ESL education, special education, and gifted education. 

By graduation, Master of Education students will design and/or implement a lesson using research-based best practices relevant to their content area, as demonstrated by achieving at least 80% proficiency on a rubric-scored content-specific instructional materials assignment in disciplinary methods courses. The disciplinary methods courses include all courses related to teaching language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

By graduation, students will present ideas in clear, well-organized writing that fulfills the assigned teaching practice genre (e.g. lesson plans, assessments, parent communications, etc.) and effectively addresses the needs of its intended audience, as demonstrated by achieving at least 80% proficiency on rubric-scored written assignments in major coursework.
