SMU students who are declared business majors may choose to add one of five specializations: artificial intelligence, energy management, entrepreneurship, management consulting , or real estate. Each specialization consists of nine to twelve credit hours.
Courses for the specialization will not double count toward the business core or the majors’ requirements, with the exception of the BASCM major, see artificial intelligence specialization. No courses may be substituted for specialization courses.
ITOM 4307 may double count for BASCM majors.

To earn the B.B.A. degree with a major in finance, students must complete all University-wide requirements, including the completion of the University’s Common Curriculum and the core B.B.A. degree requirements, satisfy the finance major requirements listed below. Students may also choose to add one of five specializations.
Note: The core finance courses must be taken through enrollment at SMU.

Note: It is recommended that Finance majors take ACCT 3415 in lieu of ACCT 3311 and ACCT 3312. They may choose to take ACCT 3311 and ACCT 3312, in which case ACCT 3311 is a pre-requisite for FINA 4347, and ACCT 3312 would be counted as a finance elective. Students who take ACCT 3415 may not then receive credit for ACCT 3311 or ACCT 3312.
