By the final semester, students will compose music that exhibits advanced control of form, harmony, rhythm, melody and orchestration appropriate to their chosen mediums.
Students will produce scores and demo recordings that meet professional standards for accuracy, clarity and sonic quality.
Students will analyze diverse musical works and articulate how analytical insights influence their own compositions. This outcome focuses on analytical skills as a foundation for creative work.
To satisfy the writing-in-the-major requirement, students will write program notes, research papers or analytical essays that explain compositional concepts, contextualize their works and employ appropriate academic conventions.
