Students will design comprehensive curricular units integrating current research, culturally responsive pedagogy and varied assessment strategies.
During the program, students will conduct a research study (e.g., thesis or action research project) and present findings to peers or at a professional conference.
By graduation, students will conduct and/or perform at a level that demonstrates mastery of advanced conducting gesture, rehearsal techniques and musical interpretation appropriate for directing school or community ensembles.
Students will lead a professional development workshop, advocacy project or community outreach initiative that advances music education.
